122 to bag first class as FUNAAB graduates 3,574 students
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta’s (FUNAAB) vice-chancellor announced yesterday that 122 students would get first-class honours from the university during its 31st convocation.
He made this known at a news conference at the school premises in Abeokuta.
It was stated by him that 1,540 students received Second Class honours (Upper Division), 1,705 received Second Class honours (Lower Division), and 187 received Third Class.
He continued by saying that 48 students had earned doctorates and 138 had obtained master’s degrees.
The vice-chancellor added that 3,574 students would be graduating at the convocation, scheduled for Saturday.
Kehinde stated that the university had produced well-bred graduates and that it had kept up its teaching, research, and community service initiatives.
“In FUNAAB, we embark on teaching, research and community engagements. We have continued to turn out well-baked graduates.
“We have collaborated with over 35 agencies, collaborations that will make progress for the university.
“The university has been adjudged the best university of agriculture in Africa and seventh best in the world. We can contribute our own quota to food security in the country.
“We are in the process of launching eight new academic programmes and waiting for approval from National Universities Commission (NUC).
“Some of the programmes have to do with computer sciences,” he said.
He claims that among the programmes are Cyber Security, Information Technology, Data Science, and System Engineering.
He said that Mr. Fola Adeola, a co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), and Prof. Attahiru Jega, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), would be honoured at the convocation.
