14, 000 candidates apply for 3, 000 temporary teaching positions in Jigawa within 24 hours

Within 24 hours, almost 14,000 candidates applied for temporary teaching positions in Jigawa State.

Professor Haruna Musa, Chairman of the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board, revealed this at the official presentation of permanent appointment letters to 3,233 candidates at the Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse, the state capital.

He informed them that they had been temporary teachers for two years before being promoted to permanent and pensionable positions after passing a series of exams and training.

“All the 3,233 teachers were recruited based on merit and we are assured that all of them are capable and will give sound knowledge to our children,” he said.

Prof. Musa indicated that the board would continue to monitor them and will not hesitate to dismiss anyone who fails to follow the employment norms outlined in the offer of employment.

He also stated that the board has opened its portal for the recruitment of an additional 3,000 temporary J-Teach teachers, with the goal of closing the teacher gap that Jigawa has been dealing with for years.

According to him: “To my surprise, within 24 hours of opening the portal, no fewer than 14, 000 candidates applied for the temporary teaching job. I don’t know how many candidates will apply before the closing.”

Speaking at the event, Governor Umar Namadi stated that mass employment was part of his strategy for successfully implementing his 12-point agenda.

He explained that no government policy can be fully and effectively implemented without enough training and capable manpower.
