18-Year-Old UNILORIN Student Becomes a Chartered Accountant
An 18-year-old student from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Miss Faith Aduragbemi Olabisi, who is studying in the Department of Accounting, has successfully become a chartered accountant.
As per the university’s bulletin, this achievement was described as an exceptional example of the outstanding service provided at the University of Ilorin.
The statement revealed that Miss Olabisi was among the many candidates who passed the November 2024 professional examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
In her comments on the achievement, Miss Olabisi stated that becoming a chartered accountant as early as possible had always been her goal.
Miss Olabisi expressed gratitude for the support of her lecturers and her mother, who both played a key role in motivating her to reach this milestone at such a young age.
The acting head of the Department of Accounting, Dr. Segun Abogun, also commented on the remarkable achievement, calling it “Miss Olabisi’s Outstanding Achievement.”
Dr. Abogun went on to explain that Miss Olabisi is one of the many students from the department who successfully passed the ICAN professional exams last year.
He urged Miss Olabisi and her peers to continue serving as role models, so the department can continue producing more chartered accountants, even before they graduate.
In response to the achievement, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, expressed his joy at Miss Olabisi’s accomplishment.
The VC, in a statement shared by the university’s director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, said he was not surprised by Miss Olabisi’s success, highlighting that the university has always been known for producing record-breaking professionals among its students, staff, and alumni.
Professor Egbewole, who also serves as the secretary-general of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), further explained that achievements like Miss Olabisi’s, coupled with the university’s lasting peace, have made it the most sought-after institution in the country.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated Miss Olabisi for bringing pride to herself, her family, her institution, and to womanhood, encouraging her to continue excelling in her studies and to remain a shining role model both academically and in her character.
Professor Egbewole also urged other students at the university to follow Miss Olabisi’s example to achieve success in their academic and professional pursuits.
