1st Set of Edo State University Postgraduate Students Graduates Saturday

Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, the vice chancellor of Edo State University Uzairue, has declared that at the fifth convocation event, the university will graduate 414 undergraduate students in total as well as its first batch of postgraduate students.

During a press briefing held in conjunction with the university’s fifth convocation event, Prof. Aluyor disclosed this information. He stated that 12 students will graduate with first-class honours, 154 with upper division second-class honours, 234 with lower division second-class honours, and 14 with third-class degrees.

Professor Aluyor clarified that of the 14 Ph.D. candidates at the university, four have successfully earned their M.Sc. and M.A. degrees, and nine have finished their programmes. 38 students will also be awarded postgraduate diplomas.

The VC also disclosed that the institution has received permission from the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) to launch new postgraduate programmes, such as nursing science, law, and civil engineering.

“NUC has also conducted resource verification visits for various new programs, such as Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Broadcasting, Media Journalism, Mining Engineering, Production Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering, and academic activities will soon commence in these departments.

“The university has been diligently working to fulfil its purpose and the vision of its founders. Our goal is to be an exceptional institution for teaching and learning. Despite various obstacles, the university has continued to operate and successfully graduate students as scheduled.

“The university is currently projected to grow to over 4,500 students by the end of the ongoing admission process, showcasing its consistent growth and ability to attract more students.

“The 5th convocation lecture, titled ‘Harnessing The Potentials of Nigerian Youth for National Unity And Development,’ will be delivered by Brig. Gen. Yushau Dogara Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps,” he stated.

In addition, the Vice-Chancellor announced that two notable Nigerians, Dr. Mrs. Owen Omogiafo and Mr. Eric Idiahi, will receive honorary doctorates from the institution in appreciation for their remarkable careers and important contributions to Nigeria’s development.
