TETFund approves legislative drafting textbook for Nigerian universities

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved the printing and distribution of 2,000 copies of a legislative drafting textbook across all Nigerian universities.

The book “A Workbook on Legislative Drafting in Nigeria” is written by Dr. Tonye Clinton Jaja, Nigeria’s premier legal scholar in legislative drafting.

Dr. Jaja is the first Nigerian lawyer to be awarded a PhD in law (legislative drafting) from the University of London. Since 2012, he has been Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Legislative Drafting and Law Reform, which is indexed by the British Library in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Jaja is the Secretary of the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP), a non-governmental organisation that just received funding assistance to hold the first-ever AfTCA-themed legislative drafting moot court competition for African law students.

The TETFUND support is intended to integrate legislative drafting into Nigerian university curricula.
