2025 Providence Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship for Nigerian Students


The Providence Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship is designed to assist Black or African students working toward higher education in English-speaking African nations.
Recipients are eligible to receive “up to $250 per year,” with the scholarship being “renewable for up to four years” depending on academic performance and proper behavior, and a “total scholarship cap of $1,000.”
The scholarship funds can be applied toward “tuition, room, or board” costs.
This award is a tribute to the memory of “Providence Ebubechi Napoleon (née Okoye)” by supporting students who show strong academic ability, leadership qualities, and dedication to serving their communities.

This scholarship seeks to uplift and support future leaders by providing financial assistance, ensuring that students can focus on their education while honoring Providence’s legacy of faith, compassion, and service.
Application Documents
- Recommendation Letters (One Required):
- One letter from a teacher, professor, community leader, or church leader.
- Proof of Enrollment:
- Documentation verifying current enrollment or acceptance into an undergraduate program in an eligible African country, upon selection.
- Academic Transcript:
- Most recent academic transcript from high school or university.
- Personal Essay:
- 500-750 words on:
“How do you hope to create a legacy of compassion, faith, and dedication through your education, career, and personal life?”
- 500-750 words on:
- Resume or CV (Optional):
- A summary of achievements, leadership roles, and community service.
- Renewal Requirements (for continued eligibility each year):
- Must maintain good academic standing.
- Demonstrate good conduct and character within the university and community.
- Submit an updated academic transcript and a brief progress report annually.
