2,030,627 candidates set to take UTME starting Thursday

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is scheduled to begin today, just as previously announced.

A total of 2,030,627 candidates have registered to participate in the exam across various centres nationwide.

Out of this number, 41,026 candidates who registered for the test are under the age of 16.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB, stated that necessary adjustments have been made to accommodate important commitments by both the board and its partner agencies.

He mentioned that candidates are required to print their notification slips, which contain crucial information related to their examination schedule.

He further explained that the slip provides details about the exam date, centre location, time, and other key information that will aid candidates in taking the exam successfully.

“Candidates are encouraged to print their notification slips beginning today, April 19.”

“This will provide ample time for logistics arrangements to access their assigned centres within the chosen examination towns.”

“To print the notification slip, candidates should visit www.jamb.gov.ng, click on ‘2025 UTME Slip Printing,’ enter their registration number and click on ‘Print Examination Slip’,” he said.

He recommended that candidates become familiar with their examination venues after printing the slips, ideally one or two days before their scheduled exam date.

To prepare for today’s UTME, JAMB had earlier released the 2025 Mock UTME results on April 13, 2025.

The board stated that the mock exam is optional and helps to test its yearly updates and gives candidates the chance to get used to the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.

According to Benjamin, the mock exam works like a rehearsal for the main UTME, helping JAMB try out new procedures and giving students experience with the CBT setting.

Benjamin said the initiative has consistently fulfilled its aim, fixing observed issues and providing candidates with essential practice ahead of the actual exam.
