3 policemen detained over murder of Kwara Poly student




Three police officers have been detained in connection with the alleged murder of Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, an ND 2 Electronic Engineering student at the Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin.

The late student was allegedly murdered by the arrested policemen last Wednesday in the GRA area of Ilorin metropolis.

The three policemen were identified as Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip, all of whom worked in the department of operations at Kwara State Police Command.

A memo with Ref.No CZ.5300/FpRD/FHQ/ABJ/Voll.6/230, dated September 9,2024, indicated that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the Homicide section of the FCID Abuja to conduct a detailed and comprehensive investigation into the alleged killing of Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola on September 4, 2024.

The officers were consequently detained for investigation.

“The Inspector-General of Police who is deeply saddened by this unfortunate event that has led to the loss of a young Nigerian, expresses his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.”

He acknowledged the profound grief and loss caused by this unfortunate act and reassured the family and members of the public that justice will be served, a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated.
