32 physiotherapy graduates were inducted on Thursday by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) College of Medicine (CMUL).
The inductees are of the 2021/2022 session, popularly known as the MAZEN’ 21.
Additionally, it states that awards were given out for excellence and that two of the entrants graduated with distinction and thirty graduated at the pass grade level.
In a welcoming speech, David Oke, the provost of the institution, stated as much and exhorted the newcomers to carry on building, leading and progressing upon the strong foundation established by the founding fathers.
Mr. Oke claimed that the institution would always bear the scars of the founding fathers’ record of achievement in research leadership on a national and international scale.
He expressed his confidence that their time at the college had provided them with a solid basis to establish both their career and their lives.
“We have tried to build true professionals in women and men of character and courage that it will change the face of the healthcare and physiotherapy profession in Nigeria. I, therefore, plead that you should remain to build our dear country Nigeria and endeavour to break the `JAPA’ syndrome that has adversely created brain drain,” he said.
But in order to ensure that the boundaries of knowledge in their honourable profession would keep growing, he urged the inductees to contribute to studies on current problems in physiotherapy.
The chairman of the CMUL Physiotherapy Alumni Association, Tomi Ojetunde, gave the inductees advice on how to be resilient, focused, humble, and adventurous.
According to Mr. Ojetunde, they must be hardy and satisfied. He pushed them to be diligent, work with other professionals, and cultivate a healthy rivalry.
