As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the telecommunication company, 9mobile, on Monday, stated that it would provide toll-free emergency lines for to the National Youth Service Corps to assist corps members who may be in distressed situation. This was disclosed by Abdulrahman Ado, 9mobile’s Executive Director of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs, during a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director-General, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, in Abuja.
The company also proposed an employment creation scheme for corps members involving E-Learning Digital Skills Centre at the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps. This information was release by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi who said;
“One of the telecom companies in Nigeria, 9mobile, is to provide toll-free emergency lines for the NYSC as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. The company’s director, Ado, said the emergency lines would enable corps members reach dedicated help lines of the NYSC and security agencies when in distressed situation.
“He also presented a proposal for partnership on employment generation for corps members, which involves the implementation of E-Learning Digital Skills Centre. The centres will train the corps members on digital skills and entrepreneurship. The centres will also provide opportunities to become business specialists.
“The NYSC DG, Brig Gen Ibrahim, said the empowerment of corps members through entrepreneurial training was one of the focal points of his policy thrust, adding that the scheme would welcome offer of assistance from credible stakeholders.”
