FG committed to revamp vocational training for life skills – Minister

YOLA (Sundiata Scholar) – Prof. Mamman Tahir, the Minister of Education, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment on Tuesday to provide youths throughout the nation with sustainable life skills.

This was said by the minister during an inspection tour of the Yola vocational training center’s continuing construction.

He claims that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to making sure that young Nigerians receive integrated education, which blends the acquisition of technical skills with traditional academic instruction.

“This development will secure the future of the youths and enable them securitize their future by having sustainable incomes and life skills even if they do not further their education.’’

While expressing satisfaction with the amount of work completed thus far, the minister urged the contractor to ensure high-quality service delivery and achieve the deadline.

“This is one of the projects across the country and this government is interested in bridging the gap between what is approved and what is on ground.

“So, we want to see the projects being executed according the terms of the contract.

“This vocational school is a school meant to provide the students with skills beyond literacy and numeracy throughout the period of their stay.

`So, by the time they finish the school, they will have acquired some technical skills and they can go with their lives even without further education”, minister said.

He claims that by elevating education to the top of his agenda, President Bola Tinubu’s administration has given it a high priority.

He stated that in order to revitalise the industry, the Federal Government launched a number of initiatives, one of which was the creation of an education roadmap, which got underway two weeks after the government was sworn in.

“We have developed a roadmap to cover the entire education sector and that roadmap has been tested and discussed at various forum and stakeholders levels.

“The National Council on Education also adopted the roadmap in December and we are set to implement it”, he said.

The ongoing project is located at General Murtala Muhammad College (GMMC), Yola.
