FUNAAB declared best university of agriculture in Africa in latest ranking
The most recent Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) for 2024 show that the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is the top agricultural university in Africa and the eighth best in the world.
The vice-chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Babatunde Kehinde, expressed his happiness and sent out congratulations to the whole university community for this collaborative success. He also urged more cooperation in order to accomplish even greater things.
Using the updated 3.0 methodology, 2,671 entries from 1,906 universities spread over 108 nations and regions were assessed for the 2024 World University Rankings.
Using a rigorously calibrated set of 18 performance measures, this technique evaluated institutions in five primary domains: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and worldwide view.
In addition, the ranking process took into account survey responses from 68,402 academics worldwide and analysed over 134 million citations from 16.5 million scholarly publications.
A total of 2,673 institutions that provided data yielded 411,789 data points.
In light of the 2024 league table, which showed changes in the global higher education landscape, the reliability of Times Higher Education Rankings—trusted by students, instructors, governments, and industry professionals worldwide—was stressed.
Remarkably, FUNAAB had previously secured the second position in Nigeria in the 2023 Sub-Saharan Africa University rankings and was recognised as the best public university in Nigeria.
