Gov Aiyedatiwa reaffirms commitment towards providing support to state varsities

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his commitment to giving all state-owned tertiary institutions the support they require.

During a meeting with members of the institutions’ Governing Councils on Wednesday in Akure, Aiyedatiwa gave the assurance.

The organisations are Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH), and University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED).Aiyedatiwa emphasised the institutions’ priceless contributions to society, especially in the area of developing human capital.

The governor committed to investigating the different issues the institutions were facing in order to find quick solutions.In order to advance excellence in education in the state, he also urged the institutions to continue their support and cooperation with his government.

“Within our available resources, l we will support you, whatever we can also do to influence support from outside, we will do also. We will support all our institutions definitely because your contribution to society can not be overemphasised,” he said.

Earlier, Prof. Ayodele Arowojolu, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the UNIMED Governing Council, offered Aiyedatiwa his sympathies on the passing of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, praising his leadership abilities.

Thanking Aiyedatiwa for the funds release for UNIMED’s Faculty of Pharmacy, Arowojolu made an appeal for additional funding for continuing projects.

Similar to this, Prof. Akinbo Adesomoju, the Chairman of the Governing Council of OAUSTECH, encouraged the governor to carry on Akeredolu’s legacy by improving the school, pointing out dilapidated infrastructure and the need for modern facilities.

Prof. Olugbenga Ige, vice-chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko, showed support for Aiyedatiwa.Ige applauded the governor for moving quickly to improve the state’s educational system since taking office.
