Professor Rasaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, interim Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has warned newly enrolled students not to violate the institution’s statutes and regulations.
He underlined that the university administration will not hesitate to impose appropriate punishments on anyone who violates such policies, which are intended to instill decorum and ideal behaviour in students.
Kalilu delivered the charge inside LAUTECH’s Great Hall during an orientation exercise as a prelude to the upcoming matriculation ceremony, speaking through the chairman of the committee of provosts and deans, Professor Tunde Ogunkunle.
According to a statement obtained through the institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Lekan Fadeyi, “the essence of the orientation programme, which usually precedes matriculation ceremonies in LAUTECH, is to ensure that newly admitted members of the university community are guided against running foul of the laws, that could cut short their stay on any Campus of the Institution.”
The statement quoted Kalilu to have assured the newly admitted students to explore the conducive ambience of the university and qualitative educational facilities for individual advancement.
It reads: “Speakers during the first day of the training programme, for which lecture free days were declared, included the university registrar, Dr. Kayode Ogunleye; chairman, committee of Provosts and Deans, Professor Tunde Ogunkunle; who represented the acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu.”
Other dignitaries at the occasion included representative of the bursar, Dean of Students Affairs, University chairperson, orientation committee, director LAUTECH Information and Communication Technology Centre, Professor Stephen Olatunde Olabiyisi, among others.
