Adamawa deworms children and immunises women against mortality, deformities

The Adamawa State Government plans to launch phase two of the Statewide School Deworming Campaign, as well as provide free delivery kits to expecting mothers throughout the state.

Kaletapwa Farauta, Professor and Deputy Governor, announced this at the Outbreak Response (OBR2) Review Meeting for March 2024, which was organised by the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

Farauta stated that the campaign was part of a Polio Immunisation campaign aimed at 1.3 million children, and that the State Government’s provision of free drugs had reduced the cost of antenatal care and delivery services at Primary Healthcare facilities, as well as re-capitalizing the drug revolving fund scheme to make it more sustainable and effective.

She did, however, praise the ongoing contributions of stakeholders and partners, which she believes have contributed to the results achieved in immunisation and other health-related concerns.

She also praised the traditional rulers, community mobilizers, and development partners in the health sector for the 101% success recorded in the Polio Routing Immunisation in the State.

Also addressing, Suleiman Bashir, Executive Secretary of the Adamawa Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADPHCDA), stated that the Agency has addressed 61 cases of non-compliance with polio vaccination in the state in the last month.

He stated that the results reported were made possible by community mobilizers and the vaccination team, which resulted in 101% success at the state level and 94% success in 20 Local Council Areas in terms of Immunisation coverage.
