2024 UTME: Kwara public school student scores 95 in maths, physics and 362 overall

Olukayode Olusola, a 15-year-old student from Government Secondary School in Omu Aran, Kwara State, got 95 marks in Mathematics in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Olusola scored 362 marks in the exam, placing him among the top contenders for the best score.

Olusola, who scored 95 marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and 77 in English Language, intends to study Electrical Electronics at the University of Ilorin in Kwara State.

His amazing success comes despite the fact that candidates performed poorly in the exam, with 1.4 million scored less than 200 out of 400.

Reacting to the achievement, his mother, Beatrice Tosin, praised Olusola’s studious and hard-working nature. She also gave all the honour to God.

On Monday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board released the results of the 2024 UTME examination. The examination board noted that 77 per cent of the 1,842,464 candidates whose 2024 UTME results were released scored less than 200.

However, the Registrar of the JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede said the examination body would not announce the names of the highest-scoring candidates to avoid a repeat of the Mmesoma saga.
