During the week, the Gerar University of Medical Sciences (GUMED) in Imope-Ijebu, Ogun State, inaugurated Dr Taiwo Afolabi, CON, as University Chancellor and Professor ‘Niran Adetoro as Vice-Chancellor.
Dr Isaac Adegoke founded the University to contribute to Nigerian education and to give back to mankind by assisting young people in achieving their dreams.
GUMED is a specialised institution founded to offer Medical and Allied Health Science programmes, with the goal of becoming a Centre of Excellence in Medical Scholarship in response to society’s intellectual and developmental demands. The institution is set on 100.343 hectares of land in Imope-Ijebu, Ijebu-North Local Government Area, Ogun State.
The Federal Government of Nigeria licenced the institution on June 9, 2023, through the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Afolabi, the chairman of SIFAX Group, has evolved the conglomerate into a leader in port management, shipping, bonded terminal operation, aviation, oil and gas, haulage and logistics, financial services, and hospitality.
