PLANE, TRCN introduce professional standards for school leadership

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has released its newly developed Professional Standards for School Leadership in Nigeria’s Basic and Secondary Education.

The Professional Standard for School Leadership in Nigeria is a comprehensive framework and reference document that aims to improve the quality and effectiveness of school leadership throughout the country.

TRCN collaborated with the British Council and the UK-funded Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) to create and publish this resource.

TRCN believes that the development of the standards is an important step towards enhancing the quality of education in Nigeria by ensuring that school leaders are well-equipped to handle the demands of modern educational environments.

The document outlines the critical role that school executives play in leading and managing schools in accordance with government policy to deliver a high-quality education that meets the requirements of all Nigerian children and youths.

Prof Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, stressed the necessity of providing teachers with an adequate environment in which to drive the educational system.

He pointed out that teachers play an important role in building the groundwork for children’s futures.
