YOLA (Sundiata Scholar) – The Adamawa Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA-AF) has trained 21 information officers across the state to enhance effective reporting on educational activities and emergencies.
The officers, drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs), also received mobile devices to facilitate their work.
Dr Umar Pella, Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, disclosed this at a two-day workshop for the information officers in Yola on Thursday.
Pella represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aisha Umar, stated that the training aimed to improve the communication skills of the officers.
“The government is determined to build a future for the next generation through education.
“Education is life; education is everything, and the governor is working tirelessly to create an environment where every child has an opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society,” Pella said.
The commissioner urged participants to utilise the devices effectively in reporting relevant information on education activities and emergencies requiring immediate intervention.
Mr Micheal Medugu, State Project Coordinator, Global Partnership for Education (GPE), explained that the training aimed to create synergy among information officers for better service delivery in education.
He said it also aimed to equip officers to receive and cover events in schools and transmit the information to local governments and the state.
“The officers from the 21 LGAs and relevant ministries were trained and equipped to monitor events in their respective areas and report appropriately to the relevant quarters at all levels of government.
“They are to report information on educational activities and emergency situations such as floods, communal clashes, outbreaks, or any other disaster for immediate action.”
Ms Oluwabunmi Anani, the workshop facilitator, commended the state government for the initiative.
She emphasised that effective communication is key to successful planning and implementation of projects in organisations.
Mr Vincent Baldeino, a participant and information officer for Song LGA, appreciated the government for the training and device.
He said the training and the device would enhance his capacity to deliver on the job and communicate effectively and accurately on happenings in his LGA.
