Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University COOU Igbariam, Anambra State, reported that the university earned over 1.5 million naira from vegetable sales in just three months.
Prof Omenugha made the statement at the presentation of the recently completed organisational review report at the University’s Senate Chambers in Igbariam on Tuesday.
She said: “Our vision is to transform this University into the leading educational institution in the South East, Nigeria, and even beyond!”
“We have the potential to achieve this goal if we adopt a private sector mentality. By embracing this mindset, we can avoid becoming just a factory producing graduates and instead establish an esteemed centre of learning.”
She indicated her resolve to pursue alternative income-generating opportunities, particularly in agriculture.
Speaking further on the University’s TETFUND Institutional Based Research (IBR) initiative, Pro Omenugha urged the grantees to take advantage of the opportunity and aspire to have their research published in prominent global journals.
The VC stressed the importance of hard effort, dedication, and respect to regulations in improving service delivery.
She informed the University staff that the management under her supervision will prioritise their well-being while ensuring effective job performance.
