Oyo ban teachers from holding meetings during school hours

The Oyo State government has prohibited any kind of meeting by head teachers or teachers during school hours, whether inside or outside public school grounds.

Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, made the announcement on Tuesday while overseeing school reopening in Ibadan, the state capital.

Adeniran stated that the measure was intended to ensure strict adherence to the unified school timetable at every public school in the state.

“This is a warning to all head teachers and teachers to desist from holding meetings during school hours. Henceforth, any primary school head teacher who indulges in such acts will be severely dealt with,” he said.

Adeniran urged unions and associations in the basic education sub-sector to follow this policy as the new session began.

Adeniran emphasised SUBEB’s commitment to using technology to improve the education system in Oyo State.

He made this statement on Tuesday during a three-day capacity-building program on how to use the BESDA Attendance Monitoring Information System.

Adeniran encouraged attendees to learn from the process, saying, “We have brought you together to develop your skills on the use of the BAMIS APP.”

He praised the Universal Basic Education Commission for developing the BAMIS APP as a technique for improving performance in terms of input, output punctuality, regularity, monitoring, and evaluation of educational activities.
