KANO (Sundiata Scholar) – Society for Child Support and Economic Empowerment (SOCSEE), an NGO, says it will continue to support the provision of quality health and education to children and women in Kano State.
The society’s Executive Director, Alhaji Sunusi Hashim, made the pledge at nine years society’s anniversary on Tuesday in Kano.
He said the organisation was established in 2014, to advocate for collective participation in development programme, especially in health and education.
“Our aim is to improve the living condition of people and empower vulnerable children, women and youths,” he said.
Hashim further said the society had distributed mosquito nets, tuberculosis programme, community strengthening system, HIV support, Covid-19 programme, and birth registration to the communities in the state.
“Currently, we have over 2,000 volunteers working in our communities, and engaged 30 Community Based Organisations (CBOs) across 30 LGAs to eradicate tuberculosis in the state.
He identified contact tracing, testing and medication as challenges in eradication of tuberculosis faced by the society during its operations.
“We have succeeded in our HIV programme by reducing the viral load and promoting testing,” he said.
In his speech, the society’s Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr Musa Abdullahi-Sufi, urged the members to come-up with innovations and ideas that would upscale their interventions and outreach operations.
“To support the team members while they are on field holding series of training on leadership, advocacy skills and effective communication can lead to greater achievements,” Sufi said.
Also speaking, the Kano State Coordinator, Civil Society for Malaria Control, Immunisation and Nutrition, Shariff Abubakar, lauded the society for its achievements within nine years.
“SOCSEE did very well by championing availability of services and facilities every where in kano,” he said. (NAN)
