Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba has been named as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi.
He was named the University’s new Vice-Chancellor following the selection process that had been in place since the end of the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdulaziz.
Pro chancellor of the University and Chairman of the Governing Council, Air Commodore Emmanuel K Jekada (retired), made the announcement on Thursday at the end of the Council meeting in Bauchi.
According to Jekada, the University’s Governing Council approved Garba’s appointment following a rigorous process.
He further stated that the process began in February with an advertisement, followed by a comprehensive screening and interview of all applicants.
He went on to say that Professor Garba came out on top, beating two other candidates for the prestigious position.
He urged the new Vice Chancellor to do his best and propel the University to greater heights.
