Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has appointed Barrister (Mrs.) Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike as its new substantive Registrar. Nwokike, who currently serves in the Registry Department at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, earned the role following an extensive interview process led by the university’s Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Greg O. Mbadiwe.
She topped the candidate list with an impressive score of 764, surpassing the second and third-place candidates, who scored 500 and 480, respectively. Out of thirteen applicants, ten candidates participated in the final selection process.
Announcing the results, the Pro Chancellor underscored the merit-based selection criteria, formally declaring Barrister (Mrs.) Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike as the new Registrar of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Professor Carol Arinze Umobi, the Acting Vice Chancellor and a member of the selection panel, commended her fellow panelists, including Gen. Funsho Oyeneyin (Rtd), Hon. Hafiz Oladepo, Hon. Chief Augustine Onyedebelu, Professor Kenneth Ngwoke, Professor Anthony Okoye, and Engr. Dr. Paul Okolie, for their professionalism and diligence throughout the process. She also praised the dedication of the university’s registry staff.
Representatives from the Federal Character Commission, Mr. Chinwuba Emmanuel Emeke and Mrs. Patricia Nwankwo, acknowledged the transparency and fairness of the selection process, noting that the results were announced promptly.
In a brief ceremony, the Pro Chancellor formally presented the appointment letter to Barrister Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike, whose non-renewable five-year tenure as Registrar will commence on October 23, 2024. The letter details that she will be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for overseeing the university’s daily administrative operations.
