Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) is set to bestow its esteemed fellowship award on the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, during its 36th convocation ceremony.
The announcement was made by the institution’s rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, during a pre-convocation press briefing held yesterday in Lagos.
Dr. Abdul noted that the institution’s core values of dedication, integrity, and excellence, which are demonstrated through its public service achievements, serve to inspire its students.
He expressed the college’s pride in welcoming these two distinguished individuals into its fold.
He further revealed that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will present the convocation lecture, titled Developing Exportable Alternatives for Nigeria’s Economic Recovery, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will preside over the event as the chairman.
According to the rector, the convocation lecture will draw from Governor Sanwo-Olu’s experience governing the most economically vibrant state in Nigeria, adding valuable insights to the topic at hand.
Speaking on the event highlights, Dr. Abdul disclosed that 8,139 students, who have shown diligence and commitment to their studies, will be graduating from the institution.
The convocation ceremonies will commence with a special Jumat service, followed by an interdenominational church service on Sunday, which will take place at the Yusuf Grillo Art Auditorium on campus.
