Edo SUBEB Boss Awards N1 Million to UNIBEN Best Graduate

Dr. Paddy Iyamu, the Executive Chair of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has honoured James Allen, the best graduating student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), during a celebration at his office.

Allen, a native of Akoko Edo, achieved a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.98/5.0 in Petroleum Engineering, the highest recorded since UNIBEN’s establishment in 1970.

During the visit, Allen shared the challenges he faced in funding his education, which initially led him to work as a teacher before securing the Bedrock Scholarship in 2022. He credited the scholarship’s financial support and mentorship programme as pivotal to his academic success.

Dr. Iyamu stated, “This is what we strive for—enabling young leaders to realise their potential, proving that those from humble beginnings can be great.”

In recognition of Allen’s dedication and achievement, Dr. Iyamu presented him with N1 million, in addition to the prize he received from UNIBEN.
