Katsina Teachers Express Concern Over Low Student Attendance as Schools Reopen
Teachers in Katsina State have voiced their concerns regarding the low turnout of students as schools reopen on Monday across all 34 local government areas of the state.
While the current economic difficulties are believed to be a key factor behind this issue, parents and guardians are urged to prioritize education in order to nurture future leaders.
During a visit to Danmasani Bala Saulawa Primary School in Gidan-Dawa, classroom teacher Malam Umar Lawal commented that the attendance of teachers was commendable.
He shared with the media that during the school assembly, pupils were instructed to encourage those who had not yet returned to school to do so or face punishment.
Lawal also called on teachers and staff to avoid arriving late to school, urging them to put in more effort to succeed in their daily tasks.
“The school has resumed today Monday, 6th January, 2025 with full attendance of teachers but we have poor attendance of learners.”
“During the assembly, the pupils were directed to inform others to ensure that they resume. We equally urged teachers and staff to avoid late coming and put much effort into succeeding in their activities,” he added.
