NBTE Accredits 18 Programs at Kogi Poly, Approves 8 others

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has awarded full institutional accreditation to 18 programs at Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja and has also approved eight more programs for the institution.

The Rector, Prof. Salisu Usman, revealed this in a statement signed by Uredo Omale, the Director of Public Relations and Protocol at the institution, which was made available to the press on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Usman highlighted that the polytechnic achieved a 100 percent success in quality assurance for the 27 programs, building on the strong accreditation performance of 2022 when all 30 programs submitted to the NBTE were fully accredited.

The rector stated that the exercise took place from December 18 to 20, 2024, under the supervision of the board.

He emphasized that, as a result of this process, no program at the polytechnic was denied or placed on an interim accreditation status, reflecting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and stability.

Usman further explained that 19 of the 57 programs at the institution were introduced during his tenure, accounting for 33.3 percent of all programs at the polytechnic.

The rector expressed his appreciation for the collective efforts of the principal officers, management, academic board, and staff of the institution, acknowledging their dedication and support throughout the accreditation and resource inspection process.

He also thanked Governor Ahmed Ododo for his steadfast support in providing the enabling environment for the institution to flourish.

Usman reaffirmed his dedication to rebranding the polytechnic to become a model admired by other polytechnics and educational institutions both within Nigeria and internationally.

“The programmes granted full accreditation status with effect from the 2024/2025 academic session.”

“The programmes that were granted approval for commencement after resource inspection visitation include HND Civil Engineering Technology; HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option); and HND Building Technology.”

“Others are HND Architectural Technology; HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics; ND Printing Technology; ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology; and ND Mass Communication,” he listed.
