Miva Open University Secures NUC Approval for 2 New Master’s Degrees


Miva Open University has obtained approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to launch two fresh professional postgraduate programs: the Master of Public Health (MPH) and the Master of Information Technology (MIT).
The approval was communicated through a letter dated February 26, 2025, after the Commission successfully carried out a resource verification exercise on February 21, 2025.
With this recent achievement, Miva Open University’s School of Postgraduate Studies now provides a total of four master’s degree programs, which include the previously accredited Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Public Administration (MPA).
The NUC praised the university for both the quality and quantity of the human and physical resources already established to support these newly accredited programs.
During the resource verification visit, the NUC delegation, headed by Malam Abubakar M. Girei, evaluated the university’s infrastructure, faculty strength, and academic materials.
The team acknowledged the university’s dedication to offering a globally competitive educational experience through a blended learning approach that conforms with the NUC-CCMAS framework.
Miva Open University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Tayo Arulogun, conveyed appreciation to the NUC for their thorough review and valuable feedback.
