Tinubu Renames Federal University of Education in Honor of Maitama Sule

President Bola Tinubu has changed the name of the Federal University of Education in Kano to Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education.
Alhaji Sule, who lived from 1929 to 2017, made significant contributions to Nigeria’s socio-political progress throughout his distinguished career.
He held the position of Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, where he also served as Chairman of the UN Special Committee Against Apartheid.
Additionally, he was the Chief Whip of the Federal House of Representatives from 1954 to 1959, led Nigeria’s Delegation to the Conference of Independent States in 1960, became the First Federal Commissioner of Public Complaints in 1976, and served as Minister of Mines and Power.
In a statement released on Monday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed his belief that honoring Ambassador Sule’s legacy will motivate younger generations to embrace integrity, patriotism, character, and nationalism.
The Federal University of Education in Kano, which is among the seven specialised universities of education owned by the Federal Government, was originally established by the Kano State Government.
As a federal university of education, it will remain essential in training teachers and further enhancing Nigeria’s education system.
