UNILORIN Student Breaks World Record in Mathematics

A Mathematics student at the University of Ilorin, Kazeem Sanusi, has achieved a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Longest Mathematics Lesson.’

He delivered a mathematics lecture that lasted 31 hours, 42 minutes, and 54 seconds. Kazeem exceeded the former record of a 26-hour uninterrupted lesson.

This record-setting performance by the 400-level mathematics student occurred in the presence of officials from Guinness World Records.

According to a statement released by the University of Ilorin’s spokesperson, Kunle Akogun, Kazeem accomplished the record-breaking lesson to the applause of an enthusiastic audience, which included the university’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN.

He noted that the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Fawole; the Registrar, Mr. Mansur Alfanla; the Dean of Physical Sciences, Prof. Abdullahi Alafara Baba; the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alex Akanmu; and the Student Union President, Comrade Victor Agezeh, were all present for the occasion.

“He is now eagerly awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records,” Akogun said. Prof. Egbewole was quoted to have said that the University is “immensely proud of the feat of Kazeem, and we will continue to encourage others to find their passion and pursue it.”

Egbewole also shared his belief that, with the support provided by the institution, “others would be inspired by Kazeem’s feat to also break all ceilings and continue to write the name of the University in gold.”
