Alex, who worked in the physiotherapy department of the hospital, was reportedly attacked by armed men, causing panic as fellow healthcare workers and patients fled for safety.
UBTH’s Public Relations Officer, Joshua Uwaila, confirmed the fatal incident and mentioned that the hospital management had informed the security agencies and were waiting for the outcome of their investigations.
In another development, two members of a local vigilance group lost their lives after being struck by a heavy-duty vehicle on the Benin-Lagos Expressway, near the entrance of the University of Benin’s (UNIBEN) Ugbowo main campus.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fatal crash happened around midday when a truck collided with the motorcycle carrying the two vigilante members, crushing their heads. Their bodies were later transported to a morgue in Benin.
