Seyi Tinubu Refutes Claims of Involvement in NANS Inauguration Violence

Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, has refuted accusations made by Atiku Abubakar-Isah, the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), that he organized a violent disruption at the students’ inauguration event in Abuja.

According to Mr Isah, individuals allegedly loyal to Seyi Tinubu invaded the Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro, armed with cutlasses and guns, halting the event.

The NANS leader stated that the attackers inflicted knife wounds on attendees, stole belongings, and caused prominent guests like Senator Ibrahim Shekarau and ex-Governor Idris Wada to flee the scene.

He labelled the incident as “politically motivated” and connected it to a supposed attempt to bribe him into suppressing his leadership role.

Responding swiftly through his verified Instagram account, Mr Tinubu rejected the accusations, calling them groundless and harmful to his reputation.

“I have never held a meeting to discuss any subject matter with Comrade Isah in Lagos or anywhere else in the world,” Mr Tinubu wrote.

“I have never knowingly met him before. Neither did I visit any location with thugs. All these allegations by Atiku Isah are completely fictional.”

In disbelief, he added, “Wow…how can someone lie with so much confidence? Wow, wow…an attempt to defame any character. May God be with you, Comrade Atiku Isah.”

Mr Tinubu’s post has garnered support from his online audience, many of whom have urged a thorough probe into the incident to establish the truth. Up to now, no formal accusation has been lodged against him.
