Kebbi State Approves N422 Million for 2024/2025 School Fees of 6,127 Indigenous Students


Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the sum of N422.1 million to cover registration fees for 6,127 students who are indigenes of the state for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The funds will be used to settle the fees of students enrolled at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi.
This was announced by the state’s commissioner for higher education, Isah Abubakar-Tunga, during a press briefing held on Thursday in Kebbi.
Mr Abubakar-Tunga stated that N211.6 million was allocated for 3,922 students attending the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, while another N210.4 million was set aside for 2,205 students studying at Usmanu Danfodiyo University.
He further noted that plans are in progress to settle the registration fees of Kebbi State indigenes who are enrolled in various other tertiary institutions across Nigeria for the same academic session.
Mr Abubakar-Tunga praised the governor for his consistent backing of the education sector within the state.
