Police confirm death of student in Bauchi

The police in Bauchi State have confirmed the death of Samuel Mbami, a student of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, following an attack by suspected hoodlums.
The spokesperson of the command, Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident on Friday in Bauchi.
He explained that the incident happened around 3:00 a.m. on Friday, when three armed intruders attacked an off-campus residence where two students of the state-owned institution lived.
Wakil stated that Mbami, a National Diploma (ND) student of Mass Communication, was stabbed in the abdomen during the violent attack.
“The student succumbed to his injuries after losing a large amount of blood,” he said, adding that the motive behind the attack remained unclear.
Reacting to the incident, Mr Usman Aliyu, President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), condemned the attack, calling it “tragic and senseless”.
Aliyu called for a thorough investigation and urged security agencies to increase patrols and surveillance around the campus to prevent future occurrences.
He also advised students to remain calm and vigilant and to prioritise their safety.
