A bridge in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State has collapsed, following the heavy downpour in the state which lasted for several hours. Some students of the institutuon reportedly died from the collapse of the metal pedestrian bridge which is speculated to have occured between 11:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m on Monday.
The exact number of casualities is yet to be confirmed following the collapse of the metal bridge linking the classrooms with the hostels. Sources within the school said two students were carried away by the flood. Some others have put the number of missing students at four or more.
The students of the University are currently protesting and blaming the collapse on negligence by the school authorities.
