AAU Annuls Written Final-Year Exams Due to Unruly Celebrations
The administration of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, has declared the annulment of certain final-year examinations conducted on Wednesday due to the “unruly celebrations” exhibited by graduating students within the institution’s premises.
A formal statement released by Mr. Mike Ade Oladenika, the institution’s Head of Information/Public Relations and Protocol, indicated that the outgoing students disregarded an existing rule that forbids such celebrations within the school environment.
As per the statement, several departments within the Faculty of Arts, including Mass Communication, English, and History, were impacted by the resolution reached following an emergency deliberation on Wednesday.
The statement reads, “The University community is disturbed that despite the memo prohibiting wild jubilation and celebration on campus, graduating students from the faculty of Art, Department of Mass Communications, English, History and International Studies violated the directive of the University Management.”
“Graduating students from the affected departments were involved in car displays, use of siren, spraying of money, shouting and hooting within the campus and also blocked the access road leading in and out of the University.”
During an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the University Management resolved to enforce the existing laws against such acts of wild celebration, leading to the cancellation of all final-year exams conducted on that day, including but not limited to “ELS 411; MAC 414; HIS 416.”
Furthermore, the statement clarified that the university’s administration would “decide in due course when such cancelled examinations shall be rescheduled.”
