Adamawa varsity inaugurates N526.7m Distance Learning CentreCentre




YOLA (Sundiata Post) – The Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has inaugurated its Distance Learning Centre built at the cost of N526.7 million to increase access to university education.

Prof. Liman Tukur, the university’s Vice Chancellor, in a remark at the ceremony on Thursday, said that the initiative would provide accessible education to all Nigerians and break the barriers inhibiting access to higher education.

“The distance learning mode of education is anchored on the need for flexible and innovative learning solutions to bridge the gap between ambition and opportunity, between dreams and reality,” he said.

The VC said the contract, which was awarded in Aug. 2021 at the initial cost of N403.9 million, was later reviewed to N526.7 million due to the surge in the prices of building materials.

Tukur confirmed that the project was finaced from the university’s internal revenue generated from the former distance learning centre located in Yola town.
