The alumni association of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State, has generously donated a Sienna bus worth millions of naira to the university. This contribution aims to facilitate the movement and activities of the institution’s principal officers.
The donation was officially presented on Wednesday during the university’s 16th convocation ceremonies and alumni lecture, held at the Folorunsho Alakija Law Faculty. The events celebrated the academic achievements of the university and highlighted its commitment to fostering excellence among students.
President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Busoye Ogunlade, emphasised the association’s ongoing efforts to support the institution. In addition to the bus donation, the association recognised selected university staff for their long service and dedication to the institution.
Ogunlade also recalled that, under his leadership, the alumni had previously donated a set of computers to the Transcripts Department, streamlining transcript collection for graduates within and outside Nigeria.
As Chair of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), Mr. Ogunlade pledged the association’s continued commitment to the university’s development.
He announced plans to launch an alumni website in December 2024, which will serve as a platform for graduates, both locally and abroad, to connect and collaborate for the greater good of the institution.
Handing over the bus to Vice-Chancellor Professor Timothy Adebayo, Ogunlade urged alumni to contribute to the development of their alma mater.
He noted that “to meet the increasing demand for quality education, the university urgently requires the support of its old students to enhance infrastructure on its campuses.” Ogunlade expressed hope for the university’s continued growth and success.
In response, Professor Adebayo expressed gratitude to the alumni for their consistent support. He described the alumni association as a valuable partner in the university’s progress since his appointment. “We are grateful to the university’s alumni for purchasing this bus. It is timely, and we appreciate it,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the university’s recent accomplishments, including new partnerships, academic developments, accreditation achievements, and infrastructure expansion. These milestones have contributed to the institution’s stability and growth.
The alumni delegation at the event included other executives, such as the National Secretary, Mrs. Yemisi Peters, among others.
