Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme 2025 for Journalists
The Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme offers a two-month experience for seasoned journalists and researchers with a focus on media and journalism. Participants conduct extensive research at the Al Jazeera Media Network (AJMN) headquarters, producing a 7,000-word research paper on a topic relevant to journalism or digital media.
Fellows engage with Al Jazeera’s vibrant media environment, connecting with editors and journalists aligned with their research interests. The programme aims to enhance journalistic research and deepen insights into digital journalism, with a special emphasis on issues impacting the Global South.

Requirements for Al Jazeera Fellowship Programme for Journalists
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Full-time journalist or researcher, either freelance or employed.
- At least four years of relevant professional experience in journalism or research.
- Strong research and writing skills, fluent in English.
- Must have experience with English academic writing.
- Open to applicants from non-Arab countries (Arab nationals can apply to the Arabic Fellowship Programme).
Selection Process
Criteria:
- Based on eligibility fulfilment and the relevance of the applicant’s research proposal.
- The selection committee includes members from AJMI, Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Jazeera English, and Al Jazeera’s Digital Division.

Applicants are also to submit the following:
- Curriculum vitae.
- Fellowship proposal (including title, field of interest, objectives, methodology, and abstract).
- Three English work samples.
- Two letters of recommendation.

The programme will take two months to complete, divided into two main phases:
- Phase 1Â (To be completed remotely): The researcher will work on and submit a research plan and an introduction to his or her research paper before proceeding to phase 2.
- Phase 2Â (To be completed at Al Jazeera Media Network Headquarters): The researcher will continue the research until final submission of the paper.
