Anambra University Suspends Security Staff Over Clash With Female Student


The management of the University on the Niger (UNINIGER), located in Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, has suspended a security officer following a confrontation with a female student of the institution.
In a statement titled “Response to recent incident involving security personnel and a student” and signed by Acting Registrar, Ven Dr Chinedu Nnatuanya, the university stated that the suspension would remain in place until the investigation is concluded.
The university expressed regret that the incident contradicted its principles and core values, which include Christ-like character, ethical conduct, grace-filled environment, and servant leadership.
The institution reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining its mission, philosophy, and values and emphasised its determination to ensure justice is served while following due process.
The management called on the public, parents, students, and stakeholders to stay calm and allow the university’s internal processes to take their full course, assuring them that the matter would be handled with utmost seriousness.
The statement reads, “The Management of University on the Niger, Umunya (UNINIGER) has become aware of a video currently circulating on social media showing a disturbing altercation involving one of our security personnel and a female student of the institution.”

“To that effect, the University Disciplinary Committee has been immediately activated to investigate the matter thoroughly and impartially.”
