Anchor University’s law programme gets approved by the Council of Legal Education

Anchor University Lagos has been authorised by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) to offer a law degree programme.

Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, the university’s vice chancellor, expressed his happiness over the development and noted that the approval came about at a good time because the admissions process for 2023–2024 is still open.

Bandele recalled that the National Universities Commission (NUC) team’s visit during the previous academic session and the Council of Legal Education team’s visit this year were the first steps in getting to this point.

He claims the two bodies evaluated our facilities, environment, and human resources carefully and made sure everything complied with the regulations before approving us.

In a statement released by the university’s spokesperson, Mr. Babatunde Oyetoro, the vice-chancellor stated that the team from the Legal Education Council was impressed with the university’s readiness for the programme.

He said that the team’s leader, Prof. Isa Hayatu Chiroma, Director General of the Council, specifically expressed his confidence that the university would manage the five-year programme successfully and pledged assistance should future needs arise.

He continued, “The team also commended us on being patient in waiting for approval before we can begin admitting students to the programme.”

Prof. Bandele noted that as a result of the development, the university would prioritise applicants who made law their first choice while also taking into account any returning students who might wish to switch to the law department and fulfil the prerequisites for admission to a law degree.

Additionally, he revealed that the university collaborates with a few foreign universities, such as Dominican University and the University of Poland, to jointly train its students in computer engineering and medicine.

Nonetheless, he expressed his gratitude to the university’s administration, staff, and governing board for their unwavering support and collaboration in advancing the institution.
