The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), the philanthropic initiative of BUA Group Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has begun construction of the N250 million Abdul Samad Rabiu College of Health Sciences Office Block at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto State.
The development of the office block began with a groundbreaking ceremony performed on the institution’s premises. The one-story structure will have 20 staff offices, the Departmental Head’s office, a Panel Room, staff convenience areas, and storage spaces.
This became necessary when the College’s facilities expanded to include five Faculties and a School of Medical Laboratory Sciences, as well as several Departments dispersed throughout the faculties and school.
At the groundbreaking event, Professor L. S. Bilbis, the University’s Vice Chancellor, expressed great thanks to the ASR Africa team and expressed satisfaction with the amount of support received thus far from Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of ASR Africa and the BUA Group.
He stated that once completed, the project will accommodate the university’s growing academic programmes and students, and that the project was chosen in response to this essential expansion demand.
Dr. Ubon Udoh, the Managing Director of ASR Africa, in his response, appreciated the University’s outstanding performance in Health and Medical Sciences.
He reiterated the commitment of the Chairman of ASR Africa, Abdul Samad Rabiu to supporting quality education within the tertiary education system in Nigeria.
Dr. Udoh, urged the institution to focus on the sustainability of this noble project and provide the necessary support to the construction team for the speedy completion and delivery of the project.
