Bayelsa hires 1,500 teachers for technical colleges, others

The Bayelsa State Government has hired 1,500 teachers in primary and secondary schools around the state.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, announced this over the weekend while responding to problems aired during the Bayelsa Elders Council’s quarterly meeting in Yenagoa.

Diri emphasised that his administration had made significant progress in science and technology by constructing standard technical colleges in five of the state’s eight local government areas.

The governor stated that contracts for the construction of three additional technical institutions in the three remaining local government regions would be awarded soon.

He stated that about 400 of the 1,500 teachers would be assigned to the new technical colleges, 230 to primary schools, and the majority (930) to secondary schools.
