Benue government to reopen nursing schools

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has declared the reopening of nursing schools in the state to promote safer medical and health practices.

Governor Alia made the call during a thanksgiving mass in his honour at St. Gabriel’s Parish, Iorkighir, Tse Agberagba, Konshisha LGA, Benue.

According to him, schools will be improved to degree and higher institutional levels so that more knowledge can be acquired. He stated that community health organisations will be reestablished and upgraded to help hospitals provide fast medical services.

The governor further stated that the government will make these various institutions affordable and almost free for qualified citizens to enrol.

He bemoaned the state’s lack of health-care facilities, which has resulted in many unnecessary deaths. He urged all health donors around the world to work with the Benue State government to improve the health sector.

He also urged everyone, particularly women in small-scale companies and farmers, to join or organise cooperatives in order to take advantage of all of the government’s programmes.

Governor Hyacinth Alia further stated that his administration will promote science and technology.

“For the youth in the Jechira axis, current trends in sciences would be enhanced through sponsorships in various trainings and practices,” he said.

The governor, pledging that his administration will not relent in curbing issues of insecurity, pleaded with all citizens to protect their communities by reporting suspicious movements to the right authorities.
