The Governor also informed the State Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board to recruit qualified retired teachers, particularly science teachers on ad hoc basis. According to him, the recruitment will solve the shortage of science teachers across the state.

He further stated that he would approve the recruitment of new teachers for primary and junior secondary schools through the State Universal Education Board as soon as the ongoing verification exercise of primary schools teachers is completed.

Governor Zulum also announced that a bill has been sent to the State Assembly after deliberations by the State Executive Council to extend the retirement age of teachers at state-owned tertiary institutions.
