COMPLETE LIST: Makeup, POP Installation, Plumbing, and 12 Other New Subjects Introduced to Basic Education Curriculum
The Federal Government has announced the addition of 15 new subjects to Nigeria’s basic education curriculum.
According to a statement released by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Friday, January 24, the newly introduced trade subjects aim to enhance students’ practical skills and improve their employability.
The revised curriculum is set to be implemented nationwide across primary and junior secondary schools starting in January 2025.
Below is the full list of the newly added subjects:
- Plumbing
- Hairstyling
- Makeup
- POP installation
- Tiling and floor works
- Event decoration and management
- Bakery and confectioneries
- Satellite/TV antenna installation
- Solar installation and maintenance
- Garment making
- Interior design
- GSM repairs
- Agriculture and processing (including crop production, beekeeping, and horticulture)
- Livestock farming (such as poultry and rabbit rearing)
- Basic digital literacy (covering IT and robotics)
