Dangote University to graduate 18,000 students at its 2025 convocation

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, located in Wudil, Kano State, has disclosed that it plans to award degrees to 18,000 students from seven different graduating classes during its convocation ceremony slated for Saturday, 10th May 2025, which will take place at the university’s convocation arena.

The school administration also revealed that five well-known individuals will receive an honorary doctorate degree, among them Dr Adeniyi Raji SAN; Chief Arthur Eze; Katsina-based business tycoon Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal; former Governor of Kano State and Founding Visitor of the university; and prominent Kano businessman Alhaji Mustapha Ado, who owns Amasco Oil Company.

Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, the vice-chancellor of the institution, made these announcements on Tuesday while speaking to the press about the university’s preparations for the major event.

“For a decade now, the university has not had a convocation. So, we are expecting several guests, including those expected to accompany awardees,” Prof Yakasai said.

He gave assurances to all attendees of the 5th Combined Convocation ceremony and the Silver Jubilee celebration that strong security arrangements were in place.

He explained that this reassurance was important considering the large number of guests expected from all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Yakasai mentioned that the university had implemented comprehensive security plans to ensure that the event runs smoothly, with a security committee made up of members from different security forces actively working to guarantee the event’s success.

“We are expecting guests from across the country, given the importance of this convocation and the calibre of prominent personalities we intend to honour during the occasion,” he said.

He went on to add, “In addition, the investiture of the Chancellor of the university, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, will be held on that Saturday.”

The vice-chancellor also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the unwavering assistance he continues to give to the university.
