Driver kills 12-year-old student in Lagos, leaves her sister in critical condition

A 12-year-old schoolgirl returning home was hit and killed by an unidentified driver speeding along the BRT lane at Ogundare bus stop on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Lagos.
The unfortunate accident also left the deceased’s 15-year-old sister critically injured.
Both sisters, who suffered severe injuries, were immediately taken to Orile Agege General Hospital for medical attention. While the younger girl did not survive her injuries and passed away during treatment, her older sister was later moved to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for advanced care.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, confirmed the tragic event yesterday, stating that a thorough investigation had begun to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
He advised drivers and all road users to strictly comply with traffic rules, including observing speed limits, to enhance road safety.
The commissioner extended his sympathies to the victims’ family and assured the public that justice would be pursued.
