DSUST partners with oil company to provide practical engineering training to students




Delta State University of Science and Technology (DESUST) in Ozoro has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MG VOWGAS Limited, an indigenous oil and gas servicing company to provide practical engineering training to university students.

At the signing ceremony at the company’s office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, the university’s vice-chancellor, Professor Jacob Oboreh, stated that the cooperation marked a watershed moment in the university’s aim to develop world-class engineering and technologically savvy graduates.

Professor Oboreh thanked the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Godwin Izomor, and its General Manager for Government and External Relations, Mr. Anthony Ogilo, for their interest in collaborating with the university to develop young professionals in the oil and gas, as well as engineering industries.

“As part of deepening Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro in areas of engineering, we have come to seek collaboration with MG VOWGAS Engineering Company in Port Harcourt in the area of practical engineering training for our students and for further areas of assistance to the university.

“On behalf of the state governor, Mr Sheriff Oborevwori and the people of the state, I thank you for accepting to collaborate with Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro,” Oboreh said.

The vice chancellor stated that the agreement’s content will benefit the university, and that the contents will be submitted to the governor for further action.

Professor Oboreh was met by Ogilo, the General Manager for Government and External Relations, who informed him that the Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Izomoh, had asked him to prepare and sign the collaboration agreement with the institution.
